Tempered glass tube is a kind of glass tube that has been specially treated.
1. Manufacturing process
Tempered glass tube is a normal glass tube that has been tempered by physical or chemical methods. Physical tempering mainly heats the glass tube to a temperature close to the softening point of the glass, and then quickly and evenly cools it. This rapid cooling process forms a compressive stress layer on the surface of the glass, and a tensile stress layer inside. Chemical tempering uses ion exchange to replace the ions on the surface of the glass tube with ions with a larger radius, thereby generating compressive stress on the surface.
2. Features
High strength: Due to its special tempering process, the strength of tempered glass tubes has been significantly improved compared to ordinary glass tubes. Able to withstand greater external force impact, for example, in some environments where the glass tube needs to withstand certain collisions or extrusions, such as industrial pipeline transportation systems, tempered glass tubes can avoid ruptures caused by external forces to a certain extent.
Good thermal shock resistance: tempered glass tubes can withstand large temperature changes. When the glass tube encounters a situation where the temperature rises or drops sharply, such as when the glass tube needs to be quickly transferred from a high temperature environment to a low temperature environment in a chemical experiment, or vice versa, the tempered glass tube can reduce the risk of breakage caused by thermal stress caused by temperature changes due to the characteristics of its internal stress distribution.
High safety: If the tempered glass tube is broken, its fragments are usually granular and the edges are relatively blunt, unlike ordinary glass tubes that will produce sharp fragments after breaking, thereby reducing the possibility of causing serious harm to the human body.
3. Application field
Industrial field: In the chemical industry, tempered glass tubes can be used to manufacture reactor sight glasses. During the operation of the reactor, there are often high temperatures, high pressures, and corrosive substances inside. The sight glasses made of tempered glass tubes allow operators to observe the internal conditions of the reactor and withstand the harsh environment inside the reactor.

Lighting field: Some high-end lighting fixtures use tempered glass tubes as lamp tubes. For example, in some outdoor lighting fixtures or special industrial lighting fixtures that require strong impact resistance and good light transmittance, tempered glass tubes can protect internal components such as filaments and provide good lighting effects.
Experimental equipment: In the laboratory, tempered glass tubes can be used to make various experimental instruments, such as condensers, absorption tubes, etc. These glass tubes may encounter different temperatures, pressures and chemical substances during the experiment, and the performance of tempered glass tubes can meet the experimental requirements.
